DJ 3000 - Kanuni EP

Following the success of DJ 3000’s last EP titled ‘Hajde’, the Motech main man re-enters the arena with a real statement of intent – ‘Kanuni EP’.  Motech Records, approaching 120 releases, spanning over 16 years, continues to demand the attention of new techno fans whilst remaining true to Detroit Techno and DJ 3000’s cultural values.

The EP features two massive tracks, ‘Kanuni’ and ‘Escapia’.  Encapsulating Techno with an ethnic rhythmic groove that has feeling and illuminates the dance floor.  DJ 3000’s signature touches are clear to see.  The ‘Kanuni’ title and inspiration for the release derives from ancient Albanian law, “an eye for an eye”.  DJ 3000's creative translation of anger in this track is clear to hear.  Whilst ‘Escapia’ with its lush Detroit chords and strings, bustles with energy and mayhem, the ‘Kanuni EP’ continues where ‘Hajde EP’ left off.

Only an artist of DJ 3000's pedigree can call on the support of names as prolific as the remixers on this release.  Detroit Techno’s man of the moment, DJ Bone provides a rare remix.  The result is beautiful Detroit Techno, filtered organs, strings and tribal percussion that reinterprets the original perfectly and adds a new dimension of classic Detroit.  Then add L.A born, now Berlin resident, Ambivalent, with a long association with Detroit via Richie Hawtin and Minus Records, and current releases on labels such as Cocoon Recordings.  He delivers a minimal remix full of funky stabs and swirls, unadulterated, underground techno funk!

Detroit is represented via all angles and shades on this release with remixes that transcend the listener into completely new and exciting places, ensuring this will be remembered as a classic release in years to come.

DJ 3000's 'Kanuni EP' is out now on Motech Records
