Nicolo Simonelli and Alessandro Facco are the gatekeepers to Kasbah Zoo, and Massimo Bonaldi as OniWax completes a three-pronged Italian attack who last year shared the secrets of their deep techno enterprise with a whole host of labels. The ‘Phatty’ they roll runs on a tech motor both zingy and forceful, illuminating dark, acid-hued perseverance stared at by an ominously authored breakdown. Remixed by the UK’s Mark Reeve down long, hissing, deserted techno corridors, dancefloor calories are piled on before the original’s riff fades from black and dominates. ‘First Day’ is a brooding riposte that bubbles feverishly before another synth strategy slices through the shadows.
