Chicago born producer, composer, pianist and DJ Kate Simko will bring her genre-bending London Electronic Orchestra to the Royal Albert Hall’s Elgar Room on Tuesday 6th March. Kate & LEO’s performance will be part of the Women And the Hall series marking 100 years since the Representation of the People Act 1918 which gave women the vote in the UK.
Women And The Hall celebrates the women who formed the Royal Albert Hall’s history and were instrumental in the fight for women’s suffrage, and provides a platform for the women who are shaping our future, through a season of panels, film screenings and performances.
One of London’s most unique and innovative ensembles, Kate Simko & London Electronic Orchestra create a distinct sound that combines the intricacies and textures of classical instruments with electronic music; incorporating vintage synthesizers, organic sound design and live sequencing whilst bringing a new perspective to both genres. The group released their critically acclaimed self-titled LP on The Vinyl Factory in 2016.
Kate Simko is a musical magpie, remixing Philip Glass, collaborating with artists like Jamie Jones and Katy B, writing for orchestra, scoring films, and captivating audiences worldwide with her LEO shows and at clubs worldwide as an in-demand house DJ. Her music reflects the influences of underground sounds, as well as her background in classical piano and jazz music.
The second half of 2017 saw Kate & LEO embark on their first U.S tour selling out shows in New York and Chicago, and a rooftop set in Washington DC. With the year drawing to a close, Kate & LEO performed at London’s iconic Jazz Café in August.

Katy B barely needs an introduction, rising up from the underground of Magnetic Man and Rinse FM success to a #1 on the UK charts. Katy collaborated with Jamie Jones, Kate and LEO on the stunning ‘Dark Delirium’ from her album ‘Honey’, which will be performed live for the first time at the Hall.
Francesca Lombardo, an Italian born DJ and classically-trained musician, will be debuting a piece off her upcoming album with a special acoustic piano performance.
Holly Walker is a London-based singer who has impressed on a global scale with her collaboration with Maribou State. This will be a sneak preview at some of her new material coming this year.
Art by Lauren Baker who has showcased her works at the Tate Modern and the V&A as well as being regularly commissioned by high profile clients like Harrods and London Design Festival. She considers her higher purpose to be to find inner strength and inspire others, vitally channeling female empowerment through her work.
Visuals by L'Aubaine Visuals Laurie Bender is a visual artist from Geneva based in London. All the elements in her work are self-produced as she combines analogue and digital, hand-drawn animations, photography and film. She creates a unique style by mixing techniques in an unusual and elegant way.
Film by Alicia Macdonald Alicia’s film debut was back in 2015; a comedy short called ‘Otherwise Engaged’ which was invited to a host of festivals including BFI London Film Festival and it continues to garner a hugely positive response. Her latest work was part funded by Film London and stars Lesley Manville.
