Leading Australian born DJ/producer Kaz James delivers a highly sought-after anthemic summer club cut, out on 13th September via James’ new imprint krushes. Its iconic artwork comes courtesy of (that’s right) the one and only Bill Murray and photographer Theo Skudra.
Kaz James explains the Bill Murray connection: “So, I’m playing at this party in Jamaica, and out of nowhere, a shirtless Bill “F-ing” Murray walks up to me. He casually comes into the DJ booth, gives me this mischievous but intrigued look. I hand him my headphones, and he starts messing with the mixer like he’s done it a thousand times. He strikes a pose for a pic, then just heads off and dances like a madman for two solid hours in front of me on the dance floor. It was one of those ‘What is happening right now?’ moments.”It only made sense to use this as the artwork for my first release”
‘Paradise’, ‘Through Your Love’, ‘Stronger’, and last year’s ‘Footprints’ have all paved the trend of annual summer anthems that have graced the memory sticks of clubland’s elite, and now joined by ‘Sun is Shining’ for 2024
“The label is all about putting out records from artists that just krush it,” explains Kaz. “You hear it, and boom, you’ve got an instant krush on it. It’s just music that you can’t get over. And of course, we swapped out the C for a K because well, K for Kaz. We want to take it on the road – from label parties, to working with young exciting talent and releasing new music from my own catalogue as well as mates. Basically just krush it.”
Cutting his teeth as a scene DJ on Australia’s underground circuit, Kaz is renowned for his marathon sets on a pair of Technics 1210s. This summer, he hosted back to back’s with Seth Troxler, DJ Tennis and Nick Morgan at his Alamagou, Mykonos residency, alongside a relentless tour schedule that includes a magical Mayan Warrior sunset set at Burning Man (clip HERE) and his sold-out China Town LA Block Party with Seth in October.
