Kemet Soul Records presents Afro Deep Sessions

With the summer now looming imminently, on the 16th June Kemet Soul Records are taking over our Farringdon space with a night dedicated to the deep and affecting rhythms of Afro House. Label head Dave Anthony has programmed a line-up that showcases the best of the sound’s protagonists for a session that is set to celebrate the vibrant strands of music that are rooted in the African continent’s sonic heritage.

Headlining Room One is Manoo. A key player in the French house world, his work has most frequently been tied to the Parisian Deeply Rooted House imprint. Also slated to join is Dave Anthony himself, bringing the freshened sound of his Kemet Soul imprint. Freerange’s Hyenah also lands. He’s gained a healthy amount of recognition over the last couple of years, thanks to support from house behemoths like Dixon, Black Coffee, and Mano Le Tough which helped his productions become sought-after across the electronic music community. Best known for his work on Mantis Recordings and the coveted DiY Discs imprint, AtJazz is also set to DJ. Through the 90s he became one of the UK’s most important house producers, while his deep house sound has most recently landed on his label AtJazz Record Company.  Soulful house producer Jullian Gomes is in the house, too. A close collaborator to AtJazz, Gomes is one of South Africa’s best-known exports. Room One is finally rounded off by the immensely talented R&B and soul singer Beverlei Brown who is set to perform a very special live PA.

In Room Three, Kemet Soul Records present an evening of smooth deep house sounds with Rap Saunders and Dennis Christensen aka SOULMATES. They bring their Afro-leaning house blend, while JazzCool and Risk Assessment also join to play on our recently refurbished system.
