Chicago young gun DJ/Producer Keith Perez, aka Kid Enigma, drops his exciting debut on DJ Sneak’s I’m A House Gangster imprint with a monster 5 for track EP titled ‘The Blessing of Ipseity’. The music is largely built around 808 and 909 beats with tracks featuring Kid waxing lyrical. This sublime package sports moody 3am head-nodders to percussion-rich, relentless house grooves, all full of swing, booming basses and jacking beats, epitomising aspects of the true IAHG sound. Put together with love and devotion for the music, Kid Enigma’s only motivation is, as he says “…unifying people on the dance floorŠ” We think it’s pretty safe to say he’s nailed it!
Chicago’s Kid Enigma started out as a turntablist at the young age of 14, by 16 he had 3 residencies mixing Top 40, Hip-Hop and Old School. Later Kid Enigma launched himself as a producer and teamed up with Edgar “MAC” Pineda to establish B Natural Records, developing his production skills and releasing his own music. With a curiosity for underground music, he ventured off to NYC and fell in love with the sounds of MAW, Kerri Chandler and 1200 Warriors. Having attended his first Winter Music Conference (WMC), Kid met and found help and guidance from key mentors such as DJ Rampage, Lego, Mark Farina, Stacy Kidd, DJ Sneak and Derrick Carter among others. Today, having played around the US, Kid is dedicated to fine-tuning his unique production style of “deep and dirty”, sealed with an objective to promote life through the powerful stimulation of music, paired with artistic expression.
In just a couple of years, I’m A House Gangster have elbowed their way into the packed house music marketplace, creating a unified sound, culture and image for their label, making them stand out boldly amongst the crowd.
