“Phazerdelique” is the first single off the forthcoming album “Tramplin’” from St. Petersburg electronic disco veterans Kim & Buran, their second long player on Nang.
“Phazerdelique” is nearly 7 1/2 minutes of luxuriant cosmic disco pulsing and sweeping along on top of a classic Italo groove that never feels like it actually needs to go anywhere in particular or needs to actually end. On the right dancefloor, at the right time, it will earn it’s right to exist outside of the normal constraints of time and space, and just be.
Diskette’s remix ups the bottom end’s ante with a stompy, new beat bassline, and punchy drums, but keeping the all-important sense of drift and dispersal in place.
Kim & Buran is a Vyacheslav Zavyalov’s project based in St.Petersburg. His music is a mix of space disco, easy-listening, space age pop and downtempo. In his childhood in Siberia (city of Khanty-Mansiysk) Slava was charmed by Jean Michel Jarre, Space and Ennio Morricone, sci-fi movies. When he was 16 he got a computer, midi keyboard and soviet synthesizer Polyvox he started to compose his own electronic music.
In 2004 while studying in St.Petersburg Slava released his first album “Kosmos for children” as Kim & Buran named after two space captains from the famous soviet animation “The Mystery of the Third Planet”. The album has analog space retro sound. The music was eclectic but combined with old sci-fi movies atmosphere.
Kim & Buran have released five albums. All of the music is composed and recorded by Vyacheslav Zavyalov in his home studio. The live show includes Vyacheslav Zavyalov (synthesizers), Roman Tolmachev (bass), Alexander Dmitriev (guitar)and Aleksei Aleshin (drums) and Vladimir Smorodin (VJ).
