Electronic producer, Kinky Roland, continues his rich seam of work with iconoclast showman, Boy George on the hypnotic new track “You’re Not The One” mixed by legendary New York producer Eric Kupper for Househead London. “You’re Not The One” is under Grammy consideration for Best Remix in its Paris Cesvette Remix version mesmerising with its deep electro-soul.
Opening in deep trippy house style, “You’re Not The One” sees George return in heartfelt style as he sings across a soundscape of Moroder style beats and vocoder style fx. With subtle keys and swathes of sound layered behind George’s poignant observations of a broken love affair, it mesmerises with its longing and wistful dance floor energy. Also included is a stripped-back Dub for the dance floor.
Berlin-born electronic producer, Kinky Roland, continues his rich seam of work with Boy George on their latest song “You’re Not The One”. Known for their Retrophobia projects like their Remix of “Be Electric” and “Sweet Dreams”, the duo first got together hanging out in electronic & queer scene clubs like Nag, Nag, Nag, Trade and Trash, featuring in Dazed & Confused, The Face, and i-D magazines. Roland worked with Marc Almond and Soft Cell, Heaven 17’s Glen Gregory, Princess Julia, Jonny Slut and Minty during these times going on to remix E-zee Possee’s hit, “Everything Starts With An E” as house music exploded. Constantly evolving, in the 90s Roland released techno and house music for labels such as Trade, React, Ultravinyl and Prolecult. As production half of dance duo LoverushUK, Roland enjoyed success with their rework of “Yeke Yeke” with Mory Kante as well as collabs with Bryan Adams and Marcella Detroit and remixes for Kylie Minogue, Moby, Nelly Furtado, Katie Melua, and Paul Oakenfold’s Perfecto Knights. His stellar musical history includes collabs with S-Express; reinventing himself as Replicant during the electroclash era; joining the band Punxsoundcheck with John Taylor and working under his birth name Roland Sebastian Faber (RSF) for electronic Italo-disco film & synth projects culminating in the vinyl release of RSF ‘Metropol” album featuring Erasure’s Any Bell, Boy George and Marian Gold (Alphaville). He’s also remixed Missy Elliot, Tiesto, George Michael, Energy 52 and Amanda Lear.
Roland is now one of Househead London’s in-house producers, with recent releases including “Stranded” with Hannah Khemoh and “Rise Up” Remix by Prefix One.
Flush from the success of his appearance in ‘Moulin Rouge’ on Broadway (NYC) and the paperback release of his latest autobiography “Karma”, multi-hyphenate talent, Boy George is currently touring the USA alongside Squeeze. He starts a UK tour with Culture Club, Heaven 17 and Spandau Ballet’s Tony Hadley in December.
George has enjoyed worldwide success with Culture Club, who have sold more than 150 million records worldwide and are recognised as a Grammy Award-winning UK institution with a stream of classic hits including ‘Do You Really Want to Hurt Me’, ‘Karma Chameleon’, ‘Church Of The Poison Mind’, ‘Victims’, ‘It’s A Miracle’ and ‘The War Song’. As a solo artist he’s scaled the heights all the while combining this with an active DJ career as well as appearing regularly on television in shows such as “The Voice UK” and “The Voice Australia” and “Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here”. He’s written the award-winning musical “Taboo” about fashion maverick, Leigh Bowery, written 3 books of autobiography “Take It Like A Man”, “Straight” and “Karma” and is also now evolving as a fine artist. With a new Vegas residency just announced, Boy George continues to defy expectations to express his diverse strands of creativity on his own terms.
