KOKI – WHAT YOU WANT

On March 31st Koki makes his EP debut with “What You Want” on Bohemian Yacht Club. The Tokyo born, pineapple headed rockstar has wowed crowds with his extraordinary work on the decks, and now it’s time he reveals his talent in the studio.

Working behind the scenes at Bohemian Yacht Club, Koki has always played a key role in the engineering, mastering, and administration of the label. Koki’s creative energy and musical background has been brewing, and now he’s unleashed it on this 4-piece EP “What You Want.”

Koki’s sound in this EP is eclectic, majestic, and wildly funky as he goes deep and electronica using an array of classic synths, vocals and beats. The EP features two original tracks “What You Want” and “The Fog Still Has A Tail” with remixes from Brian Johnson and Takuya & Ryo.

What You Want – is a hypnotic electronica track with a unique use percussion instruments. A mesmerizing and manipulated vocal lays over the finely tuned instrumental breakdown. What You Want (Brian Johnson Remix) – Brian Johnson puts an interesting spin on Koki’s original track “What You Want” adding a whirlwind of sounds. This deeply majestic version compliments Koki’s original work. The Fog Still Has A Tail – This next track is very eclectic using a variety of synths, a bongo drum and a nice kick drum to give it a funky beat. Koki’s sound in this track is a bit more melodic and atmospheric. The Fog Still Has A Tail (Takuya & Ryo Remix) – Takuya & Ryo maintain a lot of the original content in their remix, while adding spacey sounds and beats. The energy is a bit different in their remix with more elements and a quicker rhythm.

In addition to the release of this EP at the end March, Bohemian Yacht Club will be hosting their annual Bohemian Yacht Club Party during Miami Music Week in coordination with Beatport. Koki will be making his Miami debut as Bohemian Yacht Club resident alongside Brian Johnson. The line-up will also include international DJ’s Catz N’ Dogz (Pets Recordings) Eats Everything (Edible) and Kink (Ovum) where Catz N’ Dogz and Eats everything will be playing back to back as their alias Catz Eat Dogz.
