Rising producer/DJ Kotiēr has made his label debut with his new two-track Static Soul EP out now via Rose Avenue Records.
Rich with emotional nuance, Static Soul dives into the paradoxes between recollection and transformation, where time and sound are equally limitless. The opener, ‘Lēthē’, weaves breakbeat-inspired synth lines with rippling textures, nodding to the mythological river of forgetfulness that inspired its namesake. Its complement, the titular ‘Static Soul’, is a future-facing statement, anchored by an illusory groove and hypnotic melodic elements that blur the boundaries between ethereal house and deep techno. Together, the pair of tracks are a natural counterbalance, evoking a harmonic duality that is both emotive and energetic.
“This EP plays with contrast: stillness and motion, memory and momentum. It’s introspective, but there’s a rhythm running through everything — something that keeps it grounded, even as it evolves.” – Kotiēr
Kotiēr is a 24-year-old producer/DJ split between dueling lives in Berlin and New York. His background as a lifelong pianist and training in computer science led Kotiēr to experiment with overlaid visuals and synth-driven reinterpretations that drew a dedicated social media fanbase. Since then, he’s released on Solomun’s Diynamic, Tomorrowland’s CORE, and Adriatique’s Siamese imprints, and performed at CORE Tulum, Soho Garden Dubai, and Elsewhere NYC. Static Soul marks his debut release on Rose Avenue.
