David Gtronic is a producer whose stock continues to rise further with every passing release. A key member of the infamous Vatos Locos crew, Gtronic is quickly earning a name for himself thanks to a series of sultry, quality cuts, the latest of which come to the fore on the emerging Black Wood Records imprint. Featuring four discerning tracks, featuring three stunning originals as well as a stunning remix from Dan Farserelli, the Kryptoo EP features Gtronic in vintage form.
The release opens up the minimally-inclined strands of ‘Adri Dub’. Buoyed by a bouncy, elasticated baseline, it’s notable for its somewhat put-there approach and a staunch refusal to compromise. Forward-thinking fare of the highest variety, it gets the release underway in auspicious fashion.
Next up on the release is the no less brilliant strands of ‘Lexiwedin’. A groove soaked track full of tense atmospherics, it keeps the listener’s attention firmly locked thanks to its meandering, hazy melodies, the likes of which will sound most apt when the night is at its most fervent. Gtronic’s final contribution is ’Sequence’, whereby he brings matters down a considerable notch. A clever exercise in how to shape a genuinely thought-provoking track out of but a few parts, it’s very much indicative of Gtronic’s penchant for brilliance. Culminating the release is Fuse regular Dan Farserelli, who beefs up ’Sequence’ with the sort of dancefloor-themed panache that’s become his forte over the years. A muscular, trippy interpretation, it ensures the EP signs off in some style. All things told, this is a stunning release that marks Black Wood out as a label wore keeping an eye out for.
