South African native Kyle Watson makes his return to Insomniac Records with his first standalone single “Escaping It.” The track utilizes the talents of UK singer-songwriter Tania Foster for an addictive and liberating tech house groove. Kyle Watson first debuted on the label with his 2020 release “Way Down,” which was featured on the second installment of the ‘mau5trap x Insomniac Records‘ compilation.
“Escaping It” is a fun-filled house gem that’s teeming with summer vibes. Tania Foster’s vocals anchor the track, while revealing new layers by being bent, looped, and chopped with expert finesse. The succinct vocal sample acts as a tease, building the energy with an infectious sound. When Kyle Watson lets the vocals fully breathe, it feels like an epic release; the sound of finding true freedom. The work is ever-evolving, mixing retro synth melodies, sharp percussive clanks, quirky bleeps, sauntering drums, and brain-scratching bassline squiggles. Adding and removing elements creates a free-flowing groove that’s assured to ignite dancefloors. From the funky cowbells to the massively dizzying pre-drop synths, “Escaping It” keeps you on your toes at every turn.
Kyle Watson reflects on the track’s evolution, saying, “‘Escaping It’ started off as a much housier record with a completely different vocal on top. I reached out to Tania, who wrote a new vocal, which I reworked the record around. The final version came out darker and faster than the original sketch, and has been working really well in my sets since.”
South African producer Kyle Watson has been putting his stamp on the house scene for more than a decade. With a sound characterized by chunky basslines and idiosyncratic grooves, this gifted creator has made his signature known. His work has garnered support from industry heavyweights including Gorgon City, Chris Lake, and Diplo. He has an upcoming festival performance at North Coast, Petco Park in San Diego, and Academy LA.
Providing a break from the mundane “Escaping It,” featuring Tania Foster, is an undeniable house anthem that will boost your mood and energy with its infectious groove.
