Lake Hills Plucks Melancholic Breakbeat Beauty With New Single “Picking Flowers” for HARD Recs

Coming out of Los Angeles, Lake Hills is an audiovisual savant who has been using his wide-spanning talents to craft impeccable live visuals and equally transformative music that spans techno, electronica, and experimental beats. Making his debut on Hard Recs comes the cerebral single “Picking Flowers.”

Picking Flowers” is a new-age slice of breakbeat brilliance. Draped in mystique and wrapped with shadowy sonic tapestries, the track possesses a wicked allure. A mind-melting melody anchors the track, planting its hypnotic seed from the outset and transforming as it progresses. Murmuring vocal loops saunter through like a sultry whisper that rouses the deepest carnal desires. Swirling melodic flourishes, thumping kicks, chiming stabs, and murky undertones engage in an intricate dance with each element while finding the perfect arrangement. Blurring boundaries between exquisite and gritty, it conjures scenes of a high-fashion party in a dimly lit dungeon. Ever-evolving and highly addictive, “Picking Flowers” is at home at peak-time or pulsing through after-hours.

Shedding light on his new single, Lake Hills shares: “‘Picking Flowers’ is an overcast of melancholic texture mixed with a combination of heavy electro-driven drums and percussion. The track fleshes out a consistent melody throughout its life, making it easy for one to wander and dissolve in its repetition. I want to say thank you to Hard Recs for giving this release a home. I’m a big fan of the recent releases and direction they’ve been heading in. There is something really special happening with electronic club music right now, you can feel it in the parties, people and music. Overall, I’m grateful to be a part of it.

Los Angeles-based audio-visual mastermind Lake Hills has been leveraging his experience with analog film and creating striking live visuals into an awe-inspiring music production project. He has released a run of forward-thinking EPs including standouts ‘Blush’ and ‘PRIVATE LINK.’ He is gearing up for a performance at HARD Summer Music Festival. In 2022, he joined Ivy Lab on their ‘Infinite Falling Ground’ tour, in addition to being the creative force behind the visual elements for the critically acclaimed album and live show

Addictive, mystifying, and sultry, “Picking Flowers” is a moody piece of breakbeat perfection from a talent that’s continued to make ears perk up as effectively as he has managed to catch the eye.
