‘Ghost feat. Patrick Baker’, the first single from the forthcoming debut album from Lane 8 is a brooding atmospheric number, now with a music video to match.
Simmering with melancholic melodies and emotive atmospherics, the song is the first taste of new music from the anticipated album ‘Rise’, set for release on Anjunadeep this summer. Released as an instant grat download alongside the album pre-order, the track is a contemplative song about lost love and broken hearts. The video, directed by UK collective DEMS works the emotion into a story of a crew of bikers torn apart by a love triangle.
“To me, Ghost is a song about unreturned love, and the feeling of invisibility that can go along with it. We wanted that emotional landscape to be explored in the video and really loved DEMS’ approach. I feel they created something aesthetically rich and textured, while also telling an interesting and relatable story.” – Lane 8
An emotional 10-track journey across beautiful melodic instrumentals, leftfield pop moments and quirky electronica, the confident ‘Rise’ represents a bold, bright coming of age for an act who burst onto the scene with a flurry of Hype Machine #1s and stand-out remixes of diverse dance titans like ODESZA, Eric Prydz and Above & Beyond.
Featuring vocal turns from Solomon Grey, Ghostly International’s Matthew Dear and Patrick Baker among others, ‘Rise’ also features standout instrumentals such as the romantic techno vibes of the title track and the Joris Voorn-inspired ‘Klara’ – touching on the DJ sound that has won him so many fans on recent tours.
