Lucy takes on some of Latin music’s most iconic anthems alongside her own hits ‘Fresa’ and ‘Bombon’ plus salsa version son ‘Alas’ and ‘Pop’ and her version of J Balvin’s ‘Mi Gente’ which bought the house down on The Voice TV show.

7.15pm: Alvarez Funk

James Brown meets Irakere is how we describe this electrifying and high-energy Cuban funk band, fronted by Rene Alvarez. The award-winning Santiago-born singer-songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist was Europe’s most sought-after salsa vocalist and bandleader before living his life-long dream of combining his Afro-Cuban roots with his passion for North American funk.

Candela Sound System brings the exciting roster of artists from the UK’s first ever record label dedicated to Urban Latin Music. They are joined by Panamanian rapper, R Louis and Colombia’s finest, Dukus and Yvli.

Fronted by musical maestro, Kanti Qena, whose improvisational skills on the Andean pipes are the envy of jazz musicians and the delight of audiences. The band fuse the melodies and energy of Andean music with traditional roots and Afro-Andean rhythms with Reggae, Cumbia, Ska, Jazz, and Rumba.

LatinoLife in the Park’s fantastic stages deliver high-quality entertainment, showcasing the best UK-based Latin American, Spanish and Portuguese (Latin) artists as well as exciting international guests. Taking audiences on a journey through salsa, reggaetón, samba, jazz, fusion, folk, funk, Andean, bolero, hip-hop and more, culminating in a party that no-one wants to leave.

Other notes on what makes LLITP unique

  • The only Latin music festival made and run by Latinos, using their our own lived experience to ensure authentic and high quality Latin music and dance, as opposed to clichéd, low-quality expressions (as say on Strictly).
  • Showcases the diversity of Latin genres within their cultural contexts, not lumped with other so-called ‘World’ music, diluting their meaning and value.
