American singer-songwriter Laura Brino showcases her creative energy on her latest album ‘Cactus Moon’. The 13 tracks delve into vulnerability over pop sensibilities and catchy refrains.
Laura Brino explores generational trauma in ‘Cactus Moon’ through its poignant lyrics and captivating instrumentation. Blending genres of pop, rock, and folk elements throughout the 13 tracks, she takes the listening on an outstanding journey that she bravely communicates.
The conversation turns to healing and overcoming trauma; as she got closer to her forties, the themes darkened and focused more on the human condition, gradually moving away from dating and relationship issues and towards love songs and breakup songs.
The term ‘Cactus Moon’ pays homage to the moon’s symbolic meaning for cacti. Following her near-death experience giving birth to her second daughter, Laura Brino suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder for years. She feels that the ‘Cactus Moon’ is a reminder that there is always space for development and healing after considering her own healing as well as the healing of the women who came before her.
“This album captures my own personal journey over the last five years; beginning as inspired and thought-provoking, then taking a deep dive into some heavy subjects and experiences. It ends feeling very empowered. It’s wild to be able to see how spot on my own emotional rollercoaster is portrayed in this album,” Laura Brino says.
