Electronic quartet LE YORA are launching their bold artistic vision with ‘Ascension’, the new single out 3rd February as the title track from highly anticipated debut album Labyrinth, due later this year.
LE YORA, a new collaboration between four of Berlin’s most exciting DJs and producers SOMMA, Jewels, yuma. and MAGNUS, are making waves in 2023. As well as an upcoming album, the quartet’s new single ‘Ascension’ also signals the launch of their own record label and events brand under the same name.
A thrilling entry point, ‘Ascension’ offers a blueprint of LE YORA’s signature blend of afro house and melodic techno, paired with ethereal indie-inspired vocals rooted in the quartet’s background in songwriting. Themed around finding deeper truths, the track builds to an explosive synth breakdown as lead vocalist MAGNUS asks “is there something more?”
Speaking on the single, LE YORA comments: “‘Ascension’ is the first single of our upcoming album together as ‘LE YORA’. We (SOMMA, Jewels, yuma., MAGNUS) came together as a collective with a shared vision to write, produce, sing and design the art and music totally by ourselves.
We picked this song as the first album single as it’s the launch of our own event brand/record label also called Ascension. With the label, we are building our own platform & brand. Moreover, the song perfectly describes the signature sound which is a blend between afro/deep house & melodic techno”.
LE YORA is a Berlin-based quartet composed of four rising DJs and producers, SOMMA, Jewels, yuma. and MAGNUS. Over the past two years as solo artists the four members have each built a loyal fanbase thanks to a string of releases via Selected, which together garner over 8 million monthly streams on Spotify alone. Starting in the fall of 2021 the four came together and, over the course of six months, wrote, recorded, and produced their debut album Ascension across various locations including Berlin, New York, and Glasgow.
LE YORA’s background is steeped in DIY culture. As solo artists, SOMMA, Jewels, yuma. and MAGNUS have all taken ownership over each aspect of their artistic vision, from songwriting and producing to mixing and visual art. While they grew up listening to club music, each of the four started their musical journey writing songs before entering the world of DJing. Now, going back to what they love most, LE YORA are hellbent on combining all their influences and skills to create a new wave of techno invention.
LE YORA’s exhilarating debut single ‘Ascension’ is both a bold opening statement and a sign of things to come, introducing the group’s artistic vision and signature sound to the world.
