Dance music icon Lee Foss has unveiled new single ‘Golden State’, out 13th May on his own Repopulate Mars label.
Marking Foss’ first foray into hip-hop, ‘Golden State’ is an infectious combination of booming 808s, nasty funk bass, moog lead lines, and witty wordplay. A family affair, the track features his wife Chloshow on vocal duties and the slick bars of Chicago rapper Mal Rainey – a high school homie.
On the flip, Foss teams up with new upcoming talent Bryan Softwell for a melodic acid house remix that surprises in all the right ways. With a rubbery sub heavy bass, weaving melody, tech groove and playful use of the chorus, it brings this hip-hop future classic to the modern dance floor.
Described by DJ Mag as “one of the most talented forces in modern dance music today”, Lee Foss has quickly catapulted himself into dance music’s collective consciousness over the past decade, both individually and alongside his Hot Natured partner Jamie Jones. Born and raised in Chicago, his unique sound and vision continue to push the boundaries of dance music.
In addition to rapidly becoming one of the hottest labels in house music, the Repopulate Mars brand has previously hosted multiple sold-out shows across the world – from their home base in Los Angeles, Miami Music Week to Tulum along with pop ups in London and Barcelona – with the likes of Camelphat, Detlef, John Summit, Solardo, MK, Michael Bibi, Latmun, and Sonny Fodera all making guest appearances. Repopulate Mars will also be coming to Ibiza for the very first time with a new residency at Eden.
His first release of the year, ‘Golden State’ sees Lee Foss take his sound into new territories.
