It’s Free Track Tuesday [#FTT] for fans of Finnish wizzkid Lenno, as the young producer drops his enigmatic take on Pharrell’s worldwide smash ‘Happy’ on SoundCloud, just days after releasing ‘Symmetry’ on Beatport.
“I know this song has been remixed by everyone and their mother,” Lenno said, “but I still wanted to give it a try since the original is so genius and I had so many people asking me to do a remix.
“I took it to a completely different direction from the original’s minimalism and basically made it sound like a massive stadium funk track from the future. A friend of mine said it sounds like a Prince song produced by Rustie on acid, which I think is apt! I had a lot of fun making it, so I hope everyone likes it.”
Injecting the remix with his trademark nu-disco synth sounds and peppering it with delicate electronic flurries, it’s halfway through that Lenno’s true ability for elevating an already amazing single shines through, with the introduction of an epic, scorching guitar solo that blows the edit to a whole new level.
Lenno’s current single, his remix of ‘Symmetry’ by Tropic of Pisces, received a rash of rave reviews from fans and critics. With more music coming from the prodigious new talent over the coming months, Lenno continues his rise towards the top of global house music.
