Following debut tracks Stranger and Full Circle released at the end of 2014, and garnering support from Radio 1’s Annie Mac, Mista Jam alongside a host of titles including Hilly Dilly, Pigeons & Planes as well as DIY Magazine, enigmatic London-native Leo Kalyan today unveils follow up single ‘Fingertips’ alongside his much anticipated debut EP Silver Linings released this July, through Believe Records.
The 4 track taster begins with lead single ‘Fingertips’ which premiered yesterday on The Fader and demonstrates Kalyan’s boundless ability to draw upon ‘close to the bone’emotions and wrap them perfectly in an infectious soulful R&B pop sheen.
Speaking of Fingertips Kalyan describes how “Fingertips is a song about attempting to escape a memory but never fully being able to shake it off. Lyrically it’s one of my most honest songs and was a challenging one to write because there was nothing to hide behind. Someone once told me that it takes courage to be vulnerable – those words were what I was thinking of when I wrote it.”
Title track ‘Silver Linings’ is an ardent more down tempo counterpart offering listeners a further insight into Kalyan’s vocal capabilities and adept pop song writing. Penultimate offering Golden Age, brings infectious layered vocal lines engulfed by punctuated beats before closing track ‘Fairground’ brings Kalyan’s pop sensibilities to the forefront in this undeniable toe-tapper.
Silver Linings EP is a thrillingly evocative and emphatic statement of things to come from this undeniable one to watch for 2015.
Leo will also be performing several live dates across the summer including supporting Jess Glynne, alongside a much anticipated debut headline EP launch at The Waiting Rooms, in London on 29th July.
