Lucky Sun Recordings, a deep house imprint recently founded by Tom Lown, is ready to bring on some serious business from London producer O.O.R.S. With recent tracks on Scandalo, Beats Me Music, and Sudup Recordings, O.O.R.S has been steadily making a name for himself in the more subdued realm of deep house music. His exceptional pair of tracks found on the Les Deux Villes EP confidently add to this reputation. “Maule” impresses with atmospheric, filtered chords, swirling melodies, and rhythms clicking to a funky meter. There’s an evocative sense of space to this cut that should captivate after-hours dance floors. “Mechelen” follows, coming on like a classic Prescription track in its metallic staccato pads, tough Chicago-fueled drum track, and potent mid-section breakdown. Leeds-based DJ / producer Howard Sessions (Kolour, 3AM Recordings, Lost My Dog) is on hand for an effective remix of “Mechelen” that features a spectacularly rubbery bass line, echoing stereo chords, crisp beats, and gorgeous synth strings that enter a third of the way in. These three cuts comprise this brilliant fourth offering from Lucky Sun Recordings, confirming the young label as one to watch in the deep house scene.
