Les Plages Electroniques announces 2017 edition in Cannes

This year from August 10th – 12th, 16,000 revellers will descend on Cannes for Les Plages Electroniques, one of Europe’s biggest and best beach festivals. 2017 will see Flume, Bondax, Paul Kalkbrenner, Fakear and more all play.

In 2016, in defiance of the horror which sadly struck the French Riviera, “#MusicIsTheAnswer” became the mantra of the festival, and it was chanted repeatedly by every single artist, the staff and of course by over 20,000 sunbathers who answered the music call. The tragic events that deeply affected the organisation, the safety services and the festival attendees didn’t discourage anyone; they all remained mobilised, supportive and united.

As such, music continues to unite and to gather us, and so the show must go on! Thus, Les Plages Electroniques is making a strong comeback this year and the 12th edition promises many surprises, including a real festival village on the Palace Square, new afterparties at the Rotonde on Friday and Saturday till 4:30 am and more besides.

With previous guests at the festival including Nina Kraviz, Carl Craig, Tale of Us, The Martinez Brothers, Loco Dice and more, the first of this year’s headliners is Flume. Working since he was 13 years old, Australian artist Harley Edward Streten, aka Flume, got revealed to the public with his remix of Disclosure’s “You & Me” which had massive success. His first album “Skin” was released to critical acclaim and won a Grammy Award.

Also playing is Paul Kalkbrenner – the Berlin techno legend will galvanize the crowds on August 12th with an exceptional live performance. The producer and well-known German DJ, highly praised by the minimal techno community; starred, soundtracked and produced the cult film Berlin Calling.

Stepping up also are Bondax with their mix of electronic influences and languorous RnB grooves; the chart topping dance duo have turned out massive house tunes on Sony, all while serving up big sets full of infectious basslines and dreamy, fun grooves, with many more acts to join them across the festival.

Thanks to Les Plages Electroniques, Cannes has become one of France’s premier destination for electronic music. Since 2006, it’s always been one of the biggest European beach parties that attracts festival-goers from the all over the world, swaying their hips on the most beautiful beach of La Croisette.
