AFSHeeN - Let Me Down Slow

When in a single year you’ve penned and produced for the likes of Madonna (‘Joan of Arc’, ‘Iconic’, ‘Graffiti Heart’), Chris Brown (‘No Filter’) and UK Super group Take That (‘Will You Be There For Me’), and remixed for Janet Jackson, Sia and Fergie, you might think it’s about time to take a pop at the music world under your own name.

Yet that’s always been the plan for LA-based AFSHeeN, and after two years as one of the hottest names on the industry hit list, this rising artist is finally prepared to reveal his own electronic-orientated project. The first in a collection of records set for release in 2016, debut single ‘Let Me Down Slow’ is streaming now on Spotify via Dirty Soul Records (Be Yourself Music).

A delicate slice of heart-breaking synth-pop, AFSHeeN crafts an ethereal cut that gently balances vocals against padded pianos, muted percussion and dreamy chord progressions, his lines weaving in and out of each other in syncopated unison. Seamlessly balancing the melancholic top line with a minimal yet punchy beat, the end product is a hauntingly beautiful track, suitable for any discerning playlist.

‘When I work with other artists, my role is to help bring their vision to life, and do so with a mentality that ‘Song is king’. But I learned early on that as freeing as electronic music can be, it can also be very limiting when trying to serve the song. For my own project, I strived for years to find the perfect balance between songs I write, and my love of old-school and deep electronic elements.”

With more original music and A-list collaborations to come as 2016 unfolds, the future looks incredibly bright for this already much-lauded new talent.
