Demonstrating her vibrant talents as an artist, the stunning new album from Experimental-Pop artist Lia Hide, The Missing Fourth Guest is a musical breath of fresh air. Lia’s unique musical approach shines as she showcases a wide range of ideas with some big performances from her and her band.
Across the album’s 8 tracks, Lia demonstrates a musical and emotional understanding on soundscapes which are both dark and haunting but also often delicate and personal. From the heavily electronic musical tapestry on tracks such as ‘Row Row Row’ to the more piano-led, jazz-influenced ‘Niobe’, the album is full of dark and light as Lia explores the boundaries of her sound.
The album’s standout track ‘Dinner’ brings all of these elements together brilliantly – a track which develops from early FKA Twigs-eqsue experimental-electronic-pop towards the realms of Portishead before opening out into a glorious, euphoric brass section.
An album which shows what a unique talent Lia is, The Missing Fourth Guest comes thoroughly recommended.
