Following on from Will Clarke’s epic label debut in January, option4 drops the latest on his own HotBOi Records: the deeply personal, banging club weapon Lifeline.
“I think it was 2 Pac, I think it was techno, I think it was hip hop…”
option4’s HotBOi Records got the dream start in early January, with Mixmag championing the label’s very first release, Will Clarke’s On The Train. Now in keeping with the label’s ethos of dropping raw, top quality house cuts, option4 steps up to the plate with Lifeline.
"This is easily one of the most introspective and personal records I've ever written” say option4. “I got so consumed with the vocal in my head that I actually got scared to finish the song by myself. I called in help from Walker & Royce to help me engineer the tune to get it as good as it could be. I'm SO happy with the final product. It's a club weapon for sure.”
The spoken work vocal on this house banger – provided by option4 himself – is one you’ll remember long after you’ve finished listening, especially after the payoff on the drop.
Aside from the music, HotBOi Records is has already produced a line of club-ready merchandise – including tees, sweats and caps – emblazoned with iconic and irreverent imagery from the creative mind of the label’s founder, option4. After working behind the scenes on HotBOi Records for the best part of a year, the stars are now aligned.
