Mid January will see Leftroom Limited release Just Be’s ‘Logical Syncing’, featuring two new originals from the UK artist.
Matthew Benjamin, now known as Just Be and formerly known as Bushwacka! has a long in underground electronic music dating back to the summer of love in Ibiza and the explosion of acid house across the UK and the states. Now over two decades later Matthew’s material and presence as a DJ is still as relevant as ever, with his Just Be alias gracing imprints such as Crosstown Rebels, ViVa, Nicole Moudaber’s Mood Records and now Leftroom which as just celebrated its own 10 year milestone.
Title track ‘Logical Syncing’ opens up the release here, already seeing early support from the likes of Carl Cox and Luciano the track fuses glitched out synth bubbles with robust rhythms and a menacing bass hook to create a powerful opening piece for the record. Following the ‘Dubstrumental’ take on things, which as the name would suggest strips back the vibe to a more sparse groove-led state.
Rounding off the package is the second original ‘Lost Beach’, named after one of Just Be and Matt Tolfrey’s favourite clubs in the world on a beach in Montanita, Ecuador. The record drops the tempo slightly and lays down ethereal atmospherics and crunchy rhythms for its foundation, while a snaking bass groove and an amalgamation of organic instruments ebb and flow throughout the compositions eight and a half minutes.
Just Be’s ‘Logical Syncing’ EP is out on Leftroom Limited 15th January 2016.
