London producer ELLI unveils hypnotic rework of Kylie’s 2002 classic ‘In Your Eyes’

London-based producer and singer ELLI unveils ‘In Your Eyes’, a stomping ode to the 2002 Kylie classic. 

 

With a driving baseline and an elevated cosmic synth pop vibe, this sublime rework reconstructs the original into a modern dance floor groover, oozing sensuality, elegance and depth. In the accompanying video, shot by a friend at her home in London, ELLI pays homage to Kylie in a series of bold silhouettes that cut between the city skyline and the abandonment felt on the dance-floor as her own dreamy vocals play out, evoking memories of late nights spent in the club.

 

 

On the track and accompanying video ELLI says: “I’ve always loved Kylie, she is so inspiring. Fever is a stunning album, I remember dancing to it non-stop when it was released. ‘In Your Eyes’ was always my favourite. The video is very much a DIY affair, shot on my iPhone with a friend at my building, in London. I wanted to capture the early hours vibe after a night out – seeing your crush”

 

Electronic musician and singer/songwriter originally from Greece, ELLI has been based in London for the better part of a decade working as an automotive engineer and creating music. Following collaborations with several producers as a vocalist, and releases on acclaimed labels including Needwant, Anjunadeep, Objektivity and Truesoul, she is ready to take the next step and release her own solo material. 

 

Channelling a broad range of influences, her solo project explores the intersection between ambient/ electronic soundscapes and a more upbeat side that leans towards synth-pop and electronica. Recent track ‘Aggregate’ has seen her championed by tastemakers including BBC Radio 1’s Jaguar, who play-listed the track in the BBC Introducing Dance show.
