Burning Man 2024 was packed with sunshine and unforgettable moments. Highlights included a giant eye-shaped stage that shook up deep playa with its music, the eerie temple burn shrouded in a thick dust storm, and the return of the hot air balloon with DJ sets by Looners Camp.
Returning for their second year, Looners Camp was located amid the action on Esplanade this time, setting up their old world circus lounge and hot air balloon perimeter right in the heart of Black Rock City.
While the balloon couldn’t fly as often as scheduled due to wind conditions, the sky team quickly geared up for some spontaneous take-offs whenever there was enough wind stillness, paired with impromptu DJ sets from renowned artists such as Chloe Caillet and Carlita.
A holistic program with workshops and high-energy parties in the lounge or at the outdoor perimeter also took place with DJs including Goldcap, Deer Jade, Jo.ke, Vintage Culture, Arodes, Rodriguez Jr., and Julia Sandstorm, just to name a few.
One of the most iconic moments unfolded on the night of the man burn, when a rare and sudden lull in the wind presented a unique opportunity for the Looners balloon to take flight. As it soared into the night sky, campers were treated to a breathtaking panoramic view of the dazzling fireworks and the burning man effigy below.
Suspended above the desert, the colorful visuals projected onto the balloon created a magical scene that felt like pure playa serendipity.
