San Francisco-based imprint Loöq Records draws the curtain on another incredible year of releases with a stunningly diverse package from a trio of the label’s most frequent artists. Delivering the original, Momu are joined by a trio of fellow Golden State residents in alias_j and Jondi & Spesh with their unique takes on ‘Music Gets Me By’.
Opening with the title cut, ‘Music Gets Me By’ offers an exemplary exhibition of Momu’s depth in production, building around dream-like harmonies and resonant tones that accompany rolling grooves and soulful vocal runs to carve out an elegantly heartened record from start to finish.
alias_j puts his stamp on the original, bringing a standout take with his ‘Resouled’ remix. An interplanetary rendition in his signature ethereal style includes a masterful breakbeat solo and a gritty melodic drive that transform the original into a dark and captivating dancefloor heater.
Jondi & Spesh close out the release in subterranean style, turning in their ‘Deeper Dub’ and giving the original another refreshingly varied persona. Gliding pads and intricate rhythms steer the track forwards through a progressive portal of modulating frequencies and rich electronic layers as you head towards an invigorating breakout soundscape before plunging you back into a pool of rolling Deep House flavours.
