Los Charly’s release intergalatic funk excursion ‘Vibrations” on Imagenes Recordings on November 3rd
Following on from recent tracks “Enamoreme” with Heidi Vogel and the psychedelic jazz funk groove of “The Journey” with Andre Espeut, London’s acclaimed latin fusion duo Juan Laya & Jorge Montiel slip back into their original Los Charly’s Orchestra guise to deliver the intergalactic new outing, “Vibration”.
The Los Charly’s Orchestra starship synthesise the deeper spectrums of Jazz/Funk/Disco/Latin fusion, crossing into a new sonic dimension with an array of sounds and frequencies tuned in perfect harmony. ‘Vibration’ is that sonic excursion travelling to distant spaces of the galaxy to bring back to earth the most tangible proof of human dedication and persistence translated into a beautiful sound scape. With the Main mix, a Radio Edit and Instrumental, this funk track keeps the energy high as it traverses genres such as disco, jazz funk, soul and latin fusion.
The ‘LCO inter sonic research project’ better known as Los Charly’s Orchestra is led by producers Juan Laya & Jorge Montiel, who are leading forces in London’s vibrant latin fusion scene since 2007. Drawing inspiration from 70’s New York City’s revolutionary latin, disco and funk musical melting pot, the production dynamos are behind the Funky Magnetic and Los Charlys Orchestra releases such as the LCO albums ‘Rediscovering The Big Apple’ and “Los Charly’s Orchestra: Remixed’ as well as garnering serious heat for their ‘Everlasting Love’ and ‘It’s So/History’ with UK soul legend Omar. Los Charly’s Orchestra are also an incredible live band and have played shows at Unico, Shanghai and The Blue Marlin in Ibiza, whilst their UK reputation has been cemented with shows at the Lovebox Festival, Tropical Pressure Festival, Royal Festival Hall’s Clore Ballroom, and the Jazz Cafe,
With the label winning accolades for its diverse releases including heavy hitters such as the Atjazz Remix of “Amazonas”, Juan and Jorge weave their Venezuelan roots, mixed with disco, funk, jazz, soul and latin music, to make and release some of the most vibrant music coming out of London. With this their 146th release on their Imagenes label over the last decade, their impressive musical catalogue includes projects and collabs with UK soul icon, Omar, the Andre Espeut Quintet, as well as their joint releases Boogie Magic and The Boogie Man. Building their reputation on classic cuts such as ‘All Around The World’, ‘Everlasting Love’ & ‘Sunshine’, Juan and Jorge’s A List supporters include Radio 1’s Pete Tong, BBC 6’s Gilles Peterson, Louie Vega, Lakuti and BBC 6 Music’s Craig Charles’ as well as Jazz FM. Their latin-infused grooves can be found on best-selling compilations including 2020’s ‘Cafe Del Mar’ edition, Defected Records, Expansions and Universal with esteemed producers John Morales, Dave Lee, Dimitri From Paris, Atjazz, Opolopo and Jose Padilla (RIP) delivering wonderful remixes.
One of London’s most effusive champions of latin-infused music Jorge Montiel has just started a new DJ residency at The Maine in Mayfair bi-monthly on Saturdays. Jorge is hosting a DJ/Live Percussion session with Xantone Blacq on Thursday November 2nd at The Arts Club in Mayfair.
