Lost in Music heads to Manchester

Mancunian disco newcomers, Lost in Music welcome another city debut as they bring Get Down Edits to Joshua Brooks (106 Princess Street, Manchester, M1 6NG) on Saturday 24 March for an exclusive three hour set.

Consisting of Darren ‘Daz’ Dalton and Martin Roche, Get Down Edits have collectively been DJing for almost half a century. Residents of Waterford in Southern Ireland, the duo started off DJing in the mid-90s with a background of house and deep house. Sharing the decks with national and international acts including Kenny Dope (Masters at Work), DJ Deep (Paris) and DJ Harri (subclub) to name a few. A residency in Waterford club ‘Shakedown’ in 2006 allowed them to explore their style and flair for mixing music; they retained their house music mixing style, whilst incorporating 80s funk, soul, disco and classic electronic music.

It was in 2008 when their ‘Get Down’ residency first began and allowed the duo to further refine their now signature sound to the deep and soulful disco sound that they’re now widely renown for today. As a night in its own right, ‘Get Down’ welcomed stalwarts of the disco and re-edit scene including The Revenge and Greg Wilson.

Now to the present day and Get Down Edit tracks are played and loved by the likes of Greg Wilson, Dicky Trisco, The Revenge, Doc Martin and Pete Herbert, and the duo are regulars at festivals both in the UK and overseas, including Glastonbury, Liverpool Disco Festival and the Electric Elephant Festival in Croatia.

To add to the occasion the next instalment of Lost in Music marks Gareth Chubb’s first official party at Joshua Brooks since becoming managing director of the venue.

On the prospect of what is being penned as his welcome back to Joshua Brooks party, Gareth said:

“I’m so excited for this party, the buzz about the venue since I announced that I was taking over has been incredible, not just with well-wishers, but also promoters from Manchester and beyond wanting to come on board.

“Bringing together Joshua Brooks as well as my disco brand Lost in Music, which I run with Dan Pollard and Marco Giannini feels like a perfect fit.

“Our party with Get Down Edits will actually be my first official party since taking over the venue, with my other brand Micron hosting their first party back at Joshua Brooks the following week. It will also be my first home coming party as I move back to Manchester that weekend as well.

“It’s promising to be an amazing night and I’m so excited to see Joshua Brooks and Lost in Music come together.
