Louis Proud is a man on the move. The brain behind ‘So Many Promises’, ‘Love Stuck’ and ‘The Real Thing’ is on a musical marathon of late, keeping the world well stocked with his hybrid sound that ties up influences from across the board into a well-presented package that’s picking up attention from around the electronic music world. The latest – a classy original alongside the smooth vocals of SamaroPhox that will slot in perfectly with the swelling discography of the man behind Proud Sound Records and a string of 2015 anthems.
Straight into a skippy hi-hat and clap rhythm – Louis Proud introduces SamaroPhox before cutting into a classic 2-step Garage and Breaks inspired drum pattern with a 2015 twist that he’s made his own. The breakdown brings in a nostalgic piano section that nods back to the classic 90s Acid House and Rave movements. Drums and snare rolls crescendo up into the main drop through a creeping filter sweep and the potent bass takes control of the lower end of the frequency spectrum when the impact hits. SamaroPhox lets off the memorable vocal hook, which brings the full package of ‘Once Upon A Summer’ to the table. The production is a finely tuned combination of two times that Louis Proud executes with a tightly mixed flair and technical ability that is no doubt a key factor in his recent rise to prominence.
Louis has made his strong case over the last 7 months and is taking 2015 as full on as any producer in the business this year. With a reflective production sound that’s merging some of the golden sounds of House and Garage with a futuristic energy and songwriting style – it’s a craze that’s catching the attention of lovers of the old and the new incarnations of the music he represents. With a batch of heavyweight labels including Circus, CR2, and Spinnin’ already backing Louis and his musical movement and legends like Roger Sanchez sending the invitation for guest mixes – he’s a man on the move and no doubt one of the most exciting emerging faces on the circuit. The second half of 2015 is lined up to be a key period of international breakthrough for Louis with more heavyweight releases penned in for the months ahead and if his recent works are any indicator – we’ll be well stocked for new content from a talent that’s hitting all the right buttons.
Lined up for release on Elektroshok Records – ‘Once Upon A Summer’ will no doubt slot in perfectly with the label that’s made a name for themselves releasing the very best in Breaks, Glitch Hop, Dubstep, House, D&B and a whole lot more. The Spanish label is home to a swarm of some of the fastest rising names in the game and Louis fits that entry requirement like a glove.
‘Once Upon A Summer’ is out now on Elektroshok Records.
