Friend Within - Love Defined

Today, the ‘producer’s producer’ Friend Within shares Love Defined, his highly anticipated first extended solo project. A sonic depiction of all that’s good about house music, the extensive track list includes his 2017 summer single ‘RGB’ and end of year tribal banger ‘Jungoal’.
 
Speaking on the Love Defined, Friend Within says:
 
Love Defined is me exploring my love of house music. I've created a body of work that I hope represents me as an artist and producer. It has been 18 months in the making and mastering but some tracks started life at the very start of Friend Within nearly 6 years ago. Other tracks are right up to date and with each and every tune in between I've tried to do something different. Even though the music was made at different times and even in different studios with different gear there is, for me, still a cohesion that allows the whole playlist to work as one entity.
 
Out today via his own imprint, He Loves You, the track list is both diverse and cohesive. The journey from the start of the playlist with tracks like ‘Jungoal’, ‘RGB’ and the glitchy, punchy ‘Rancor’ to the bass laden ‘Better Looking’ at the end is a smooth one. Traversing different landscapes of electronic music from the garage infused ‘HTTH’, to the dark synthy ‘Yes Eye’ and the trippy, hypnotic ‘Formula’, Love Defined packs a serious punch.
 
Rejecting the standard static album format, Love Defined is instead presented as a playlist with tracks to be added into it as time goes by. It is an ever-evolving body of work with a purpose to help define and provide a bigger understanding of Friend Within as an artist.
 
Friend Within’s penchant for underground party music with a commercial edge has led him to release on a variety of labels throughout his career including DFTD, Rinse, Dirtybird, PETS, Hypercolour, Method Records. He’s toured worldwide, hitting some of the world’s biggest venues and parties including The Warehouse Project, Fabric, The Holy Ship! and EDC Mexico.
 
2018 is set to be a big year for Friend Within, keep an eye out for what comes next.
