Hitting their 15th release in style, the connected label welcomes a production heavyweight to the roster in the form of Tigerskin, who here links with Panama brothers K.E.E.N.E. for an essential new EP.
Tigerskin has been a key part of the dance scene for years not only under this name but also as Dub Taylor on labels like Moodmusic and Dessous. His style is deep and atmospheric and meshes well with K.E.E.N.E., who he met in summer 2014. After inviting the young pair to his studio they soon cooked up the track found here. During the process they decided a human touch was needed so Elli, a London artist who has released on Truesoul, Objektetivity and NeedWant, was drafted in to add her poetic style to the project. The result is a seductive slice of sultry deep house for the body and the mind.
The fantastic ‘Lust’ kicks off with big rubber drums and thundering claps. Vamping synths ripple about to add colour and the whole thing is all consuming and steamy. When Elli’s vocals come in they add real tenderness and emotion and ensure the whole track really soars. An instrumental is also included without the vocal, and becomes a more direct and driving house cut but one that is still wonderfully warm.
For the remix, David Mayer—a founding member of Keinemusik and prolific DJ and remixer—delivers a classic remake that is a pumping tech house twister. He propels the record through nine minutes of freaky late night vibes, sweeping chords and pained lead synths. It’s a big track, for sure.
Once again here connected serve up the deepest dancefloor delights.
