Maggie Tra Releases Transforming New Album ‘Cyclo Theory’ Album

Electronic Producer/DJ Maggie Tra returns with a fourth new transforming new album ‘Cyclo Theory’ that touches on themes of displacement and belonging.

Tra shines the light on the often happiness but also sadness of being an Asian Diaspora who growing up in a first world country and returning to the land her parents lived.

It’s been 50 years of Khmer genocide and 50 years of the Reunification of Vietnam, this album brings up the past, but also celebrates the future.

“I spent this year in Vietnam and Cambodia where they both had 50 year events, it was such a complex and complicated feeling being there and I wanted to create music that touched on these thoughts,”

“I’ve a lot of resistance and resilience from my ancestry, and this album unfolds all that, but also celebrates that. From field recordings in Vietnam and Cambodia, as well as featuring my own vocals on this,”

On what she wants listeners to take away with this album Tra said, “I want people to understand and feel that life is just so complex, no matter what you’re going through. But that’s ok, realising the past and accepting that is scary but also strength,”.

‘Cyclo Theory’ is a 12-track album that delves into dance, electronic, house and techno. Tra creates music that oozes with infectious drum loops that lodge directly into your ear drums, accompanied by bouncy and diverse soundscapes,

Tra’s album will set the hearts of audiences afire with blazing beats urging people on the dance floor. The audience is taken through the entire emotional register of love and is left with an unforgettable experience.
