Maggie Tra’s ‘Yummy Lion Dancer’ Single Signifies Courage & Stability

Returning to claim her rightful crown, Maggie Tra rings in the Lunar New Year with the release of her Electronic single ‘Yummy Lion Dancer’.

Tonally, ‘Yummy Lion Dancer’ fits the celebrations and joy that comes from Tết, (the Vietnamese New Year) and carries the heavy drums of love and hope with promises of a better year.

Selecting a sonically Asian ancient yet modern sound pool once again, the dance-worthy beat will have listeners lost in the cultures and depths of Asia with recordings of lion dancer drums capturing the inspirational yet traditional atmospheric waves of Lunar New Year.

On the single Maggie says, “I want to start the new year with a song that brings more movement and joy whilst uniting the Asian communities together,”

“Traditionally lion dancers perform in front of new businesses to bring them luck and are a symbol of a new beginning, which perfectly fits the theme of how I am going to make music this year,”

Following what’s already been a successful run for the multi-talented artist, Maggie’s debut album ‘Kingdom of Her’ and EP ‘U.L.A’ has garnered support from taste-makers across the globe. From becoming an artist in her own right, Maggie’s extensive catalogue houses various stand-out moments including being featured in Resident Advisor, DJ Mag, Mixmag Asia and more.

With music as her home, Maggie is also the founder of music label & collective SYS Sister Sounds which aims to release music from Asian female and non-binary music producers. Her persistence to fight for equality and to provide a platform for emerging Asian artists’ stand with the time is unsurpassed.

A weaver of musical fibres, Maggie’s creations entwine melody, genres and tempos to create her own tapestries.
