Minus member and Enter resident Fabio Florido shares his techno talent with refused. in this next EP Magni. Fabio Florido, the Berlin resident and German influenced techno producer, is currently one of Ibiza’s hottest fresh artists on Richie Hawtin’s ENTER. Ibiza series at Space. Opening for Luciano and Richie Hawtin in the main room, and frequent appearances in the Sake room, Fabio Florido is growing among the best.
His EP Magni goes beyond the classic refused. or Minus techno sound. In many of the releases out on refused. or Minus, the product relies more on the complex textures of sounds. Fabio Florido incorporates these textures in his EP with additional focus on the overall composition with builds and breaks.
Magni starts in with a fully developed kick, which grows over a rumbling bassline. The hi-hats sizzle in and fill in the hollow-ness with obscure percussions. A drowning voice faintly chants in a cyclical fashion throughout the whole track as it continues to build. Magni continues to progress right till the end, creating a strong atmospheric presence. SCENE #1 is a big room techno stormer which starts in with a winding synths and a strong subby bassline. Its progressive builds and heavy reverb makes it a real dance floor distorter. It continues to build with a series of interesting elements coming in and out and takes an off-road journey with a very hypnotic break in the middle. SCENE #2, the last track of the EP is more on the progressive techno tip. It comes in strong with a very full kick and bass, and continues to builds in and out of hollow territories. A cool drum echoes in the background giving it a sense of eeriness. Overall, Scene #2 is a very atmospheric track with a corky, consistent groove.
