‘Make Me Cry’ is the brand new EP from the UK’s much-respected house producer, Sandy Turnbull. Landing on 9 December on Sandy’s Galleria Records, ‘Make Me Cry’ features two impeccably produced filtered-disco tracks guaranteed to inject sparkle into the coming winter months. With support from the likes of Stonebridge, Gregor Salto, Graeme Park and Lenny Fontana, and plays on Shoreditch Radio and RTE Pulse, Sandy continues to demonstrate once again his ability to produce flawless house-music, no matter the sub-genre he turns his hand to.
Sandy Turnbull is a rare breed of producer. From 15 years with his shoulder at the wheel of house music, his production skills allow him to move seamlessly from deep to jackin, and disco to vocal. His love of house music shines through his productions and is reflected in his support from the house DJ community; a list which has grown to includes such luminaries as Derrick Carter, DJ Sneak, Soul Clap, Todd Terry, MK, Horse Meat Disco, Tony Humphries, Jimpster, Doorly, Groove Armada and Blaze.
Never one to seek out the limelight, his aim has always been to lay the foundations on which the rest of us can dance – a talent recognised by a string of credible labels all signing his work, including Guesthouse, Solid Ground, Look At You, Heavy, and Open Bar Music.
In the new ‘Make Me Cry’ EP, Sandy has cooked up two glittering cuts assured to pack the dance-floor! The title track toys with a heartfelt vocal loop riding over a mix of warm, cosmic keys, all underpinned by a beautifully filtered, funky groove.
‘Feelin’ Me’ is packed with uplifting filtered disco goodness as the vocal swirls around a melting pot of lusciously looped string and brass hooks.
Sandy comments: “Make Me Cry and Feelin’ Me came from hours of sample digging and listening to filtered Disco records. With that, both have a slightly different feel to my previous releases and have been huge in my sets.”
Sandy cemented his reputation as a resident DJ and pioneering promoter of The Pin Up Club in Sheffield, creating one of city’s seminal underground house nights, as well as bringing DJs such as Nic Fanciulli and Denney to Sheffield for the first time. Since then, with a focus on production, he’s dazzled dancefloors worldwide with such tracks as 'The Most Fantastic Thing' featuring DJ legend Danny Krivit – a release that earmarked the re-launching of Soulfuric Deep and stayed at the top of the Traxsource chart for over 2 weeks. And 'Camino' on John Julius Knight's, Blacklist label, which topped the house charts and scored him a second number 1 record on Traxsource.
‘Make Me Cry’ marks Galleria’s 8th release and follows the glowing success of Sandy’s ‘After Comiskey Park’ EP, which found its way into the sets of Tony Humphries and Mark Farina among many others. Sandy is about to showcase once again, a top-class release on Galleria, and show why, as a hard-working and versatile artist, he enjoys the respect of those who know their house music.
