malesh – Stay Low EP

malesh releases ‘Stay Low’ on Decoded Mini Records this December, featuring a healthy remix from Marko Nastic.

The Croatian-based Decoded Mini Records was founded back in 2007 as the sister label of Decoded Records, it’s formation driven by the desire to explore the more minimal and percussive sounds of house and techno. Seven years on and the imprints family is ever-growing with affiliates such as Mladen Tomic, Alexander Koning and Marko Nastic among many others.

With 2014 now drawing to a close the label closes in on it’s thirtieth release with number twenty-nine from local artist malesh who initially cut his teeth as a classically trained musician and an audio engineer, qualities and skills that shine through in his warm productions and ability to stamp a unique personal touch on his output which, for the most part, embodies the darker, groove-laden side of tech-house.

‘Stay Low’ is a silky smooth cut, cultivated to simmer on low heat over shimmering percussion, resonating intonations and pulsating bass while a ghostly spoken word vox works in a ethereal element to proceedings with spirited effect.

Up for remix duty is a vibrant veteran of the industry Marko Nastic, who not only built and nurtured the techno scene in South East Europe for over two decades but boasts a back catalogue of releases across labels like Soweso, Earresistible and Tronic. Marko certainly doesn’t disappoint for his re-imagining of ‘Stay Low’ with submerged modulations, slapping pads and an infectious tripped out beat to deliver a wonderfully wacky techno cut to round of the two-track EP in fine form.

malesh ‘Stay Low’ EP is out on Decoded Mini Records on 1st December 2014.
