Malpas - Malpas – Where The River Runs

Where The River Runs’ is the sumptuous second single from Malpas, due for release on Killing Moon Records on 17th June 2015.  One of the highlights from their forthcoming debut album ‘Rain River Sea’, it layers swelling synths, intricate rhythms and mandolins under falsetto vocals to create a compelling slice of folk-tinged electronica.

Malpas is singer-songwriter Ali Forbes and producer Andy Savours, who has worked with The Horrors, Sigur Ros and My Bloody Valentine amongst others.

The duo’s recently released debut single ‘Under Her Sails’ received rave reviews and won them supporters across online, print and radio.

Malpas’ trademark sound at times calls to mind the Beta Band and evolved over email between Birmingham and London. It began with a few fragile folk demos recorded in Ali’s attic that the pair continually exchanged and added to, chopping and sampling each other’s ideas to create a collection of complex and beautiful musical pieces that still retain the emotional directness of those original recordings.

Malpas are gearing up for a string of live shows and festival appearances this summer, which they recently kicked off with two great gigs at the Sebright Arms in London and The Great Escape. More dates to be announced in due course.
