MANTi Debuts on Borders of Light with ‘Trauma’

Relishing in one of the most productive years of her career so far, Iranian artist MANTi is ending 2023 with quite the flourish. Following the marked international success of her two-part Lose Yourself EP on Re.You and Santé’s esteemed LSF21+ imprint last Friday, the in-demand, LA-based producer now looks to continue her impressive run of form and see out the year with a bang, as she delivers her ominous new single, Trauma.

Out now via Borders of Light as part of their thirteen-track ‘YEAR 000.000.001’ VA compilation, Trauma marks MANTi’s eagerly anticipated debut outing on the highly regarded imprint, and follows a string of hugely successful releases on leading labels including Marginalia, Einmusika, Akumandra, New Tab Music and Natura Viva already this year. Purveying an avant-garde sound project, injected with deep musicality and raw, stripped-back minimalism, this latest offering showcases her incredible diversity as a producer as she delves deep into her sonic repertoire to deliver one of the darkest productions on her catalogue to date.

Deep bass and snarling rhythms ignite the six-minute cut, as MANTi takes us on an intense, otherworldly journey through time, space and consciousness. Increasingly known for her experimental soundscapes and hard-hitting atmospheres, her menacing underground treatment across the record is both wonderfully dark and hypnotic, engaging the listener from the off. Characterised by incredible complexity, dark energy and a series of trippy vocal drops, MANTi capitalises on her innate ability to draw you into a sanguine, industrial construct, as she explores a remarkable array of timbres from across the electronic music spectrum.

Speaking about her final release of 2023, MANTi commented:
