Jeanne really makes a step up here with a new EP that showcases lots of different sounds. Across all four tracks the French artist serves up acid, pop, house and techno on this acclaimed French label. There is also a bonus track included and overall there is something to love here for everyone, there really is.
Opening up this brilliantly varied EP is Crystal, which is a playful house tune riddled with colourful chords and great melodies as well as murmuring voices. Then comes Roma, a much more physical track that is designed to get you moving with its rubbery deep basslines, driving drums and prickly percussive patterns all run through with little acid flashes. Devon Rex is then a corrugated techno cut with spooky pads, rubbery drums and eerie atmospheres that will really freak out the heads and Derb Ghallef gets all ghetto and erratic with icy hi hats and spooky synths. Digital bonus Lonely 2.0 is then a slower, more spacious cut with nice trippy melodies and dreamy vocals all making for a woozy atmosphere.
Jeanne’s Crystal EP is out now and available here.
