MarMar – The Other Side EP

American-French producer MarMar is proud to unveil his newest body of work, The Other Side, a deeply personal and creatively liberating seven-track EP which is available this week on all major streaming platforms.

Following the success of recent singles Sobers Me, Missing Me, and You’re My One (feat. Arnii), the full EP introduces four new tracks: the cinematic interlude Shadrach, the uplifting Cloud World, the evocative England, and the heart-stirring focus track, Walking On Water featuring UK artist SMOORIBA.

For the first time in the past year, I felt completely free while creating—no pressure, no expectations, just the joy of making music for the sake of it. The focus-track for this release is Walking On Water (feat. SMOORIBA), which Mario describes as one of the most meaningful tracks on the EP, revealing that it was born from an unlikely moment of inspiration—an overnight bus journey from London to France following a show.

“Walking On Water” is one of the most special tracks on the EP. The first sketch of it came to life in a moment I never expected—on a chaotic overnight bus ride from London back home to France after playing a show. I’d chosen the long way home, taking the bus to the southern coast and crossing the Channel by ferry.

 

The journey was wild, with crowded terminals, frustrated travellers, border checks in the middle of the night. Somewhere in that madness, I remember looking out the window and seeing the White Cliffs of Dover glowing in the moonlight as we approached the Ferry station. I hadn’t planned to see anything profound on that trip, but that moment hit me. It reminded me that beauty can show up in the most unexpected places. I grew up seeing pictures of this place, and now I was crammed onto a smelly bus with no intention of seeing something like that, just trying to get home, and suddenly being amazed at what was around me.

 

While we crossed the water, I opened my laptop in this weird ferry cafeteria at like 1am and started building the track. The next day, I sent it to Abby (aka SMOORIBA), and she wrote and recorded the vocals. What we ended up with is a song about trust and surrender—about choosing to find beauty even when things are stormy. It’s about those moments when, against all odds, it feels like you’re Walking On Water.” ~ MarMar
