Manchester-based DJ & production trio MASON Collective have teamed up with rising house innovator Fletch on STREET HEAT VOL 1, their latest edit pack out on 22nd Feb.
In keeping with their penchant for classic hip-hop, soul, R&B, afrobeats and Latin music samples, STREET HEAT VOL 1 sees the trio and MASON family member Fletchreshaping a treasure trove of nostalgic gems.
Opener ‘WALK AWAY’ comes fast out of the blocks with an explosive house groove and soulful vocal, while ‘QUE PASO’ follows with Latin-flavoured syncopated beats. ‘TONIGHT’ is a smooth deep house groove fuelled by funk bass and driving hi-hats, and ‘NOBODY BETTER’ crafts a high-energy garage tune around an addictive vocal sample and bouncing synth pads. Finally, enchanting EP closer ‘BY YOUR SIDE’ caps off the edit pack with a flourish, bringing intricate percussion and dreamy flutes into the mix.
A versatile and endlessly creative EP, STREET HEAT VOL 1 sees close DJ associates MASON Collective and Fletch continuing their fruitful collaboration, having recently joined forces on their sublime remix of the hit Tyla single ‘Water’, released late last year.
Straddling both music and fashion, Mason Collective – headed by Blair Suarez, Adam Myles and Omar Guedar – are coming off the back of a busy 2023. Following January’s acclaimed MASON Edits: Vol 2 edit pack release and April’s Soul Rebel EP, the Manchester trio made their debut on Defected with ‘People In Love’ featuring Bipolar Sunshine, before a packed summer which included the BPM Festival in Costa Rica, as well as shows in Cartagena Colombia, Napoli, Rome, Milan, Printworks London and Barcelona to name a few. The Collective also introduced the new label imprint V Housewith their single ‘Samburu’ with AJ Christou.
Infusing their house productions with hip-hop and UK garage influences, if you’re not familiar the trio have had a strong few years, with releases on Hot Trax, Defected, Solid Grooves, Knee Deep In Sound, Saved Records, Loco Dice’s Desolat as well as their own label Whippin’.
Not your average House DJ, Fletch’s signature style takes the listener into a wormhole of forward-thinking house music. With The Martinez Brothers, Loco Dice, Jamie Jones, Luciano and Ricardo Villalobos all spinning his tunes across the globe you’ll be hearing a lot more from this young, rising artist.
Kicking off the new year with a bang, STREET HEAT VOL 1 continues the MASON Collective and Fletch’s rise through the underground music scene with some of the UK’s most exciting new music.
