It has been a whirlwind past few days for the DJ Awards, on top of all the planning that went into the 20th Anniversary ceremony, which took place at HÏ Ibiza on Tuesday 26th September, they still had this years´s Bedroom DJ masterclass to organise. Abel Ortiz from Madrid was the lucky winner, out of over 560 entries on Mixcloud.
The mentor, Roger Sanchez, a living legend of House music, offered his one-hour masterclass at the Ibiza Blau Music digital school in the wonderful countryside surrounding of San Agustín. The dj technical set up was ready for the class, including 4 CDJ 2000 NSX2 supplied by Pioneer DJ. Roger showed us his skills to mix the music across the 4 CDJs´using each one for it´s specific use, whilst offering valuable advice to Abel in front of an audience.
Over the past few decades, DJ and Producer, Roger Sanchez has always been at the highest level, a total professional, with many new breed talent reaching out to get his endorsement. So it was very special for the DJ Awards to have such a luminary to host this years competition, watch how the class went here
Following the class it was straight onto Café Mambo, to watch the sunset over dinner and then onto enjoy an incredible session by Roger Sanchez B2B Kristen Knight at this iconic place San Antonio. Wasn´t going to be easy a set by the master, but Abel Ortiz seamlessly picked up and glided into his set, raising the atmosphere with its percussion-filled tribal rhythms that everyone enjoyed as we danced into the night.
Abel Ortiz will be a name to watch out for in the future, once he has his grand prize of the new “all-in-one” XDJ-RX2 and the HDJ-2000MK2 headphones courtesy of our partner Pioneer DJ, there will be no stopping him!
