Matt Groove – Go! E.P.

Pop Rox Muzik are back again with another notch to their sparkling belt of releases in 2014 with Matt Groove’s ‘Go E.P.’ – a double-tracker package plus a solid remix offering, giving us three new pieces to enjoy today. Mexican talent Matt, now 24 is already 10 years deep into his electronic music journey having picked up the headphones at just 14 years of age. The label’s international pull has for some while now resulted in Pop Rox keeping a vastly global roster, reaching all corners of the earth and Matt is the latest in a long and varied line of up and comers that call the label home.

GO!

Matt’s lead effort for the EP is the packages name and typifies Groove’s production palate through the stacks of metallic leads, soft and uplifting pads and underlying saws that break out into full song after some filter work. The long and winding breaks lead up into a burst of snare drills and FX that accelerate into the main sections which are reinforced with a booming sub kick which is 100% sub territory. The lead comes in the shape of a pitch bent patch that dances on top of the straight four to the floor rhythm. It’s a strong effort from Matt Groove and a more than worth production to head up this heavy hitting package.

GO! – ELECTROWEB REMIX

ElectroWeb is the guest remixer for ‘Go!’ and he’s come up strong with a nasty Complextro rework that take the original’s segments and rips them to pieces to make room for a barrage of morphed bass modulations that boggle the senses with intricate and lethal micro-edits. With every layer lashed chains of FX, the whole production is soaked in colour and width, but it’s ultimately a chaotic and menacing effort.

DIRTY BOUNCE

Matt Groove wraps up the EP with ‘Dirty Bounce’ which as the name suggests, is a full on main room smasher, but you might be surprised by the intro and build-up, which doesn’t exactly stick to a formula we’d expect from this kind of production. The siren lead sings out the lead tune, but some Trap-like moments in the breaks and build-up leaves you not sure what to expect – but all wonders are confirmed on the drop when Matt lets off a bulky kick.
