If you found yourself on a dancefloor over the last Summer, the chances are that you will have found yourself throwing some shapes to Matt Smallwood’s huge remix of Inner City’s seminal track – Good Life. Receiving critical acclaim across the board, including some from the legendary Carl Cox himself, it was always going to be a tough release to follow up; this time, Matt Smallwood has been having Big Fun with another classic from the Inner City vault.
And has he done it? In a word, yes. With support rolling in from all corners, his remix of Inner City’s Big Fun lives up to its namesake and will, without a doubt, be a mainstay in sets all over the place until well into 2014. A slice of classic house with the throwback tinge that you’d expect from any Inner City track, Toolroom head honcho, Mark Knight, made the track his ‘Killer Cut’ on his Toolroom Knights podcast and support has been flooding in from the likes of My Digital Enemy, Chris Lake and even Carl Cox – again!
Matt Smallwood has been flying throughout 2013, and capping the year off with another dancefloor weapon leaves him in an enviable position to kick start 2014 at full speed. So, what Big Fun comes next from the Toolroom Knight? You’ll just have to watch this space…
