Mellomania Vol. 23 Mixed By Pedro Del Mar

With each new volume evermore keenly anticipated than the last, the Mellomania mix-compilation series has long serviced the harmonic, melodic & euphoric needs of the Trance Family. As Mellomania approaches its milestone 10th anniversary and 25th edition, series-mastermind Pedro del Mar is primed to whip the chill out of autumn with another immaculate collection of hothouse progressive and feel-great trance.

MM:23 fuses music from scene-elite like Tiësto, Dash Berlin, Roger Shah, Aly & Fila, Ferry Corsten & Giuseppe Ottaviani and John O’Callaghan. Also on board is audio from longstanding underground heroes – Andy Duguid and Andre Visior among them, as well as ready-to-break production/remix talent like Craig Connelly, Philippe El Sisi and Miroslav Vrlik.

A ten-year-standing cornerstone of switched on electronic music fans collections’ Mellomania’s latest edition sets sail on waters pacific with Pedro and Romanian producer Hoyaa’s purpose-built compilation overture. From the luminous ‘Club 23’ onwards every harmonically mixed soundwave gets bigger than the last as Pedro fires the mix’s engines with a hot-streak of anthems. Giuseppe Ottaviani & Ferry Corsten’s synth-serving ‘Magenta’, the vocal anthemics of Bobina & Ana Criado’s ‘For Who I Am’ and John O’Callaghan’s block-rocking ‘I’ll Follow’ all seize and energize the mix.

Pedro’s knack for harmonising big game productions with those of nu-blood talent is as fundamental to the series as ever. Craig Connelly & Christina Novelli’s rapidly emerging anthem ‘Black Hole’ strikes a major emotive chord, as does Steve Brian and David Berkeley’s ‘The Blood And The Wine’. With Philippe El Sisi’s scorching re-bake of Andy Duguid’s ‘In This Moment’ and the Sue McLaren sung Aly & Fila club smash ‘Mysteries’, Pedro brings the mix to full combustion.

But hang tight! We’re not done yet… Part 2 intros with an ictious double shot of co-production action from Pedro del Mar & Germany’s Rocking J. ‘Beach 23’ and ‘Krysta’ blaze a trail for vocal smashes from Dash Berlin (with the Beatport smash ‘Steal You Away’), Myon & Shane 54’s headily trance-tropic ‘Outshine’ and Pedro & DoubleV ballistic new take on Tiësto & JES ‘Everything’. Skilfully weaving the mix between booming big room weaponry like Roger Shah’s Rework mix of Sunlounger’s ‘I’ll Be Fine’, it also deals progressive, melodic and uplifting highs through numbers like Joe Tinajero’s ‘Cold Blue’ and Roman Messer’s ‘Come Home’. With the symphonic, orchestral majesty of Sequence 11’s ‘Dione’ bringing it to a dramatic, anthemic conclusion, Mellomania 23 seals its own deal!

With winter round the corner, the need for trance fuel to keep the fires burning couldn’t be more important. Mello by name, not so mellow by nature: you owe your collection some Mellomania! Vol.23 is released on October 7th.
