Australian indie disco/dance duo Midnight Pool Party are coming back to us this week with a huge new dancefloor treat called ‘BANG BANG’ which is sure to hit a few of the sweet spots.
Back in April Midnight Pool Party gave us a stellar new single called ‘Nonchalant’ which saw them experimenting on their staple disco/dance sounds with some contemporary hip-hop and R&B influences. They’re continuing that exploration with their next release ‘BANG BANG’ which has them drawing influence from the likes of Disclosure, Fisher and Duke Dumont as they take us deep onto the dancefloor with some big, banging, sexy beats.
As Morilla (frontman) explains below, the initial concept for the song came about after a few fun nights out in the gay club scene, and there’s no doubt that’s where those sexy vibes are coming from…
“Initially I came up with a concept for the song which I showed to Ollie with some references of the type of vibe I was going for; before the pandemic hit us I was going out to gay clubs and listening to more club music, and a lot of music that was associated with the gay ballroom scene. Once I showed Ollie we sat down and listened to more club music as opposed to our usual disco styles. Artists like Disclosure, Fisher and Duke Dumont were references we used that made sense to us and the evolution of this new song.” – Morilla
‘BANG BANG’ also comes with a message of positivity to all who listen. It’s one of those songs you can play whenever you need to get yourself psyched up and ready to take on the world!
“The song is about dodging bullets, bad vibes and energies, while also dishing back on those back who taunt you. It’s almost like a pep talk to yourself, to psych yourself up to speak up for yourself, own what you have and not letting anyone bother you with their negativity.” – Midight Pool Party
‘BANG BANG’ is available everywhere now via GYROstream.
