Ministry of Sound’s 25th Birthday | Saturday 3rd September
It’s Ministry's birthday! And to celebrate turning 25, we’ve invited down Todd Terje, Greg Wilson, Los Suruba and loads more. Come join the party!
DJ and record producer Todd Terje will lead the birthday celebrations. Hailed by Rolling Stone magazine as one of the '25 djs that rule the earth', there is no denying Todd Terje's legendary status. Known for his distinctive, consistently compelling dance music, Todd Terje docked his intergalactic boogie ship onto the Scandinavian dance scene in 2004 and for the last decade he’s been creating, cutting and remixing his own wonderfully weird brand of hi energy electronic disco for worldwide dance floors ever since. Touring his takeover ‘Its Album Time’, in theatrical live shows with a unique twist of the tropics, Terje has switched up the Scandi sound and thrilled crowds time and again. The album debuted #4 on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums chart, #23 on the UK Albums Chart, and #6 on the UK Dance Albums chart.
With a place in the history books already reserved thanks to his revolutionary work with the tape deck, Greg Wilson has remained a musical icon amongst a new generation of fans due to his unpretentious approach to party music from underground to mainstream movement. We are excited to have him bring the disco over to Ministry of Sound’s party in the middle of a hectic festival season.
Los Suruba (real names Delmar and Alvaro) are a duo amidst a new generation of fine underground artists who exemplify this inventory, no mean feat in a country that houses some of the most influential European talent to break the scene over the past few years. While it would be easy to assume that this ‘all out party’ sentiment is the principle theme of their music, Los Suruba is much more than that. Traversing the Barkly pleasurable, serious and fun (deep house, tech house, techno), a Los Suruba set will find you immersed in a world of limitless possibilities, an abstract journey of feelings and sounds that capture the beauty of every precious moment.
Ministry regular PBR Streetgang will also be joining the party. Named after the Vietnam war boat and crew from 'Apocalypse Now', PBR Streetgang (Bonar Bradberry and Tom Thorpe), have released on a wealth of notable imprints including 2020 Vision, Hot Creations, Wolf Music, Throne Of Blood and of course Futureboogie with their 'Double Boogie' EP. Both DJs respectively are technically sound selectors and their style of bumping, groovy and funky house and disco music has secured them spots at clubs and festivals the world over.
Further acts on the bill include Warehouse tear up tag-team Ewan Pearson and Tim Sheridan. Ewan Pearson has been making music for a living since 1998. In that time he has worked as a recording artist (Maas, World of Apples, Partial Arts), a remixer (Depeche Mode, Chemical Brothers, Goldfrapp, Seelenluft, Metronomy, Jessie Ware), a record producer, mix engineer and DJ.
Tim Sheridan has been a stalwart of the house and techno scene for over 20 years, regularly playing at major UK clubs such as Back to Basics, Cream, Fabric, The End as well as holding down various residencies in Ibiza. From a long background of warehouses, free beach parties in Ibiza, raves at DC10 and across Europe and the UK, Tim Sheridan’s Veryverywrongindeed parties and its label Veryverywrongindeed Recordings now has rave support from DJs from Dan Ghenacia to Sebo K, Laurent Garnier and Mr C.
